FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

“HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT DANCE STYLE?”

We offer a variety of styles for different ages. For ages 1 ½-2 we have a Creative Movement class that covers rhythm, balance, coordination, stretching and begins teaching the core foundation for dance. For ages 3-14 we offer Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Acro/Gymnastics.

  • Jazz is a highly expressive and unique genre of music. This class borrows techniques from modern dance and concentrates on personal and artistic expression, set to upbeat music.
  • Tap will teach individual tap steps while learning to build combinations of steps together. Tap is very percussive and is a great way to learn about musicality and counting music. Tap is wonderful for those who wish to make some music.
  • Ballet is the traditional form of dance that is usually performed to the accompaniment of classical music. Ballet is more technically based and will provide the required foundation for all dance styles.
  • Hip Hop is a fast-paced lesson full of high energy and an active style of dance set to modern day music.
  • Lyrical is expressing the lyrics of the music with movement. It is a combination of ballet, jazz and modern techniques. Lyrical has a free-flowing style that is set to popular songs.
  • Acro is a combination of gymnastics and dance. Set to upbeat music, dancers will learn the foundations of dance and gymnastics core skills.

“DOES CLASS MEET WEEKLY?”

Yes, classes will meet at the same time each week and will run through mid- June with our Annual Recital to follow.

“WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS A CLASS?”

If your child is going to be absent, you can call or email the front desk to let us know they won’t be attending this week. If you know ahead of time that you will have to miss more than one class at a time, we recommend letting us know so that we can reserve your spot in class.

“WHAT IF I WANT TO MAKE CHANGES TO MY SCHEDULE?”

If you are wanting to change or add a class, just let the front desk know the classes you want to modify or change so that we can adjust it properly in our system.

“DO I STAY AND WATCH OR LEAVE WHILE MY CHILD IS IN CLASS?”

It is completely up to your preference! You are welcome to wait in our lobby during class time or view the class from our viewing window (in select rooms). If you prefer you can even leave your child while you run an errand or wait out in your car. They are in good hands while in class.

“DO YOU ALLOW PARENTS IN THE CLASSROOM?”

We typically try to have the students enter the classroom alone, in hopes to get them better acquainted with the classroom, teacher and classmates. Sometimes when parents are in the classroom, children can be more attached and distracted, which can take away from their learning. If necessary, parents are welcome to walk their children into class, especially if they are nervous. The teacher can assist with trying to make your child feel comfortable so that parents can exit the room and view from the window.

“DO WE HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RECITAL?”

All our classes will learn a dance that will be performed in our Annual Recital in June. If you would just like to attend classes without participating in our Recital, that is just fine. You will just need to notify the front desk that you will not be needing a costume for Recital.
